Meet Catarina

Catarina is a graphic designer based in Porto, Portugal. She is in her third and final year of pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Design. Outside of studies, she runs an Instagram art account, offering a peek into the creative process behind her work.

The challenge

Moving beyond a PDF

Like many art program students, the final year brings more projects and the pressure of assembling a portfolio website. While Catarina had always used a PDF file, it was now time to upgrade to a more interactive format. Catarina needed to create her first website.

The journey

Creating a site that represents me

Catarina looked around for tools to help. She tried different website builders, but always found them limiting. So, picking STUDIO was a natural choice.

“I couldn't manipulate the design as well with other website builders. On STUDIO, I was able to…get to what I want even with no web design background.”

Experimenting with STUDIO's features, Catarina discovered the power of the box layout tool.

“I wanted something that is very clean and simple, so my projects can speak for themselves.”

With a few clicks, she mastered centering and aligning elements. From there, everything started clicking with her prior experience in other graphic design tools, and she was able to get to the layout she envisioned.

And she did not stop there. Catarina added interactions like hover effects through experimentation. When previewing the site on various devices, she realized it was not responsive to different screen sizes. She quickly made adjustments using the responsive scroll bar.

Everything looked as envisioned. It now comes time to publishing her site. In STUDIO, all it took was a click to get from a design to a real website.

The impact

Taking it with me to a new chapter

Catarina will be graduating later this year. She plans to continue updating her portfolio website with STUDIO. She envisions it to be even easier with new features like the Figma to STUDIO plugin. Check out her portfolio at https://catarinapfcosta.studio.site.
